Why is my boiler noisy?

Boiler engineer

Why is my boiler making a banging noise?

If your boiler is making a banging or kettling noise you could have a build-up of sludge or limescale in your boiler’s heat exchanger – causing a restriction of water which begins to overheat & steam.

Kettling causes your system to work harder and often shortens the lifespan of a boiler. This isn’t a major issue, but we would recommend getting a flush out of the system, which will clear out the build-up of sludge & limescale and will help to restore the efficiency of the boiler.

We recommend Fernox as they have a range of products to help with the health and longevity of your boiler.

You could also have a failed Pump in the boiler or on the system, this will stop the heat from getting away from the boiler causing it to overheat. pumps can just fail, but it is most likely caused by dirty system water. Another reason to make sure your system is fully protected.

Why is my boiler making a gurgling noise?

Gurgling noises can be air trapped in the system, you may need to bleed your radiators. During the winter if you have a condensing boiler, gurgling noises are a tell-tale sign that your condensate pipe could be frozen.

Your condensate pipe will need to be thawed to fix the issue – this an incredibly easy fix.

however, if this has happened this could indicate that the condense pipe is not installed correctly or that any insulation on there will need replacing. we recommend condense pro,
